Audi R8 V10 Spyder: A supercar that anyone can drive

Audi R8 V10 Spyder: A supercar that anyone can drive

Audi is a car brand that’s seen quite a transformation over the last decade or so, shedding its slightly stuffy image of a car maker that builds solid saloons and estates in favor of a more desirable one thanks to a raft of new model lines. The original TT played a big part in this, while the likes of the first RS6 estates, with their dirty great V8s shoehorned under the bonnet, were pretty much the quickest way to transport a family of four and their dog over long distances. Then there’s Audi’s success at Le Mans, winning five times with the LMP R8 before ripping up the rule book and entering the diesel-powered R10 TDi, which won the endurance event in its first year in 2006. That same year Audi took the wraps off its most ambitious road car yet, borrowing the name from its r

Adobe Scan turns your documents, receipts & more into editable PDFs

Technology
Adobe today is launching a new mobile app that makes it easier to convert paper documents and other things into digital, editable PDF files. While there’s no shortage of scan-to-PDF apps on the App Store, many are not free, have a dated design, or simply convert an image to PDF format, but don’t allow for edits. Adobe Scan, meanwhile, uses optical character recognition (OCR) to convert the printed text to digital text that can then be searched, selected, copied or annotated in Acrobat Reader DC or Acrobat DC. In addition, Adobe says the free app doesn’t limit you on the number of pages you can scan nor does it downgrade the quality. Of course, another advantage – or disadvantage, depending on your viewpoint – to using Adobe’s app over scanners from, say, Microsoft (Office Lens), Goog

Dubai woman gets region’s first fully 3D-printed prosthetic leg

Entertainment, News, Technology
Dubai: A Dubai resident has this week received the region’s first-ever fully 3D-printed prosthetic leg, a new innovation that could soon slash in half prices of costly conventional prosthetics. After a horse racing accident in the UK in her early 20s, Belinda Gatland, a British expat, would suffer for nearly two decades. Her left leg had twisted, and her bones below her knee had shattered “to smithereens”. Necrosis, or the premature death of tissue or bone cells, then set in, leaving her in agony. At the age of 40, after nine fruitless operations, she finally opted to have the leg amputated. Then, as the muscles near her knee began to shrink and have atrophy, she had to wear countless new conventional prosthetics. In the UK, only basic prosthetics are provided to

Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro: Detailed Review Samsung has been polishing out the rough edges from its products for a while now. The company has streamlines its phone lineups, with the Galaxy S, A, C, J, Z and On series devices. Of course, the popular Galaxy Note lineup is also going to make a comeback this year. So, while Samsung still makes a lot of phones, it seems to have pinpointed the ideas that consumers are buying. Samsung is hitting different market segments and its devices are well defined now. The S series is its flagship class, while the A series represents a premium range, just below flagship. The On, J and Z series devices are budget centric, whereas the Galaxy C series (which is what we’re concerned with today) is for users who like big screens. We reviewed the Galaxy S8 (Review

Here’s how Google installing Android directly in car systems may change things

Technology
Google has announced its intent to expand the scope of its Android operating system. In a recently published blog post, the company states that it will be integrating Android directly into in-car infotainment systems, and the first companies who will include Android-based infotainment interfaces are Volvo and Audi. Google already has Android Auto as a system-on-interface service, which essentially mirrors Android smartphones on to a car's infotainment display. With the new system, Google will be installing Android directly into the in-car systems, which will function without relying on a smartphone. So, how does this change things? For the end-user, most functionalities will be retained from Android Auto. However, there are tangible benefits. As Haris Ramic, Product Manager for Andr...
