Melbourne RFC on the rise after fantastic season

Melbourne are aiming to build on their on-field success which was led this season by the 1sts who won the Midlands Two East (North) title to clinch promotion to Midlands One East.

The club has also taken huge strides forward off the field, building a new clubhouse, in partnership with MSP, and forming an academy.

The 1sts also won the Notts, Lincs and Derbys Shield and they were runners-up in the Derbyshire County Cup, losing to Glossop in the final.

The under-17s reached the Midlands national finals, while the club’s Stags (social) team won the Nottinghamshire RFU Security Plus Pennant League and reached the Derbyshire RFU

Melbourne’s development squad reached the final of the Derbyshire Pennant, where they lost to Leesbrook 1sts.

And Melbourne Minxes (female section) hosted a very successful sevens festival weekend, the biggest female rugby event of its kind.

Melbourne are keen to recruit players at all levels and anyone interested should contact Peter Ilott at peterilott@hotmail.co.uk.
